Because we need to stay in hostel until the proses recruitment done. It' can be 2, 3 or 4 month. Depend how fast we get an employer and the calling visa out. During that time, the teach us how to do the housework like ironing, mopping, use electronic device, take care baby, take care an elderly..etc. We can't go home, even go out from the hostel is forbiden. We have to stay there until the time to embark to the country destination.
It's very bored and not fun at all. It's like we stay in militer barack. We sleep on the floor, use very thin mat. One big room size 6x7 used to accomodate 40-50 people. Everything do together, bath, eat, sleep...no privacy. And everytime we did some thing not right, they will angry and shout with use words that you will never imagine.
Don't ask about what we eat everyday, as long as can get rice and Vege is enough already. That's why don't surprise if your new maid look so skiny, sick and confused.
When first time I came to my employer house, also very skiny. Some more I only stayed for 2 month in the hostel. But because it's my first, I bit confused, scared and stress.
When decided to work as maid, I didn't know that I have to endure such thing. I guessed I only need a pasport, buy ticket, stay 1-2 days in hostel..and then gone. But it's not like that, it's far from what I imagine.
You have to know, not all maid come from poor family. Some of them don't even need money, they just curious...and..how to say..ya...?Bored with their live. Like me. Before being a maid, I was working in EXIM company, before that I worked as cashier in hypermarket, before that I worked in Oil Refinary company as QC, before that... as I remember every years I change job..I just didn't know what I want...until I come to malaysia 5 years ago.
My salary at that time was 380 with 5 month deductions.
